In 1999 Alline Anderson and her husband, Kurt, decided to try to walk the environmental talk and relocated from a live-work loft space in Berkeley, California to a strawbale home in the Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage located in the plains of northeastern Missouri. Today, Alline is the proprietor and self-proclaimed “Top Banana” of the Milkweed Mercantile a green retreat-like complex that houses an eco-inn, organic café, a general store and an online store offering eco-friendly products that are designed to lessen the impact on the earth, while delighting the senses. As our guest, Alline will share what inspired her and her husband to make such a dramatic lifestyle change to the ecovillage in Missouri, how her life has changed since their move, the unique business model of the mercantile, and her take on the change in attitude towards an eco-conscious culture.
